hi all, i have fitted a kitchen sink today at the house we have been refurbing, trouble is the builder got the sink and its a really flimsy steel one, i fitted it in but as there were no brackets to secure it to the work top i stuck a bead of silicone under it, but the corner lifts up and when i push it down it comes straight back up, what should i do? at the moment i have left it clamped down over night in the hope that with the silicone cured it will have enough strength to hold it down. the only other idea i had was that there are some square holes in the under side of the sink, (presumably for the brackets) i was going to put a screw in them to secure it to the work top but the joiner advised against me doing this.

P.s the work top is a wooden one.

any advice would be appreciated

thanks guys/gals.

if your a plumber get the brackets and do it properly. (you should know what builders are like)
if your a cowboy just silicone it. and hope no one catches their hands on the corners.

hehe i totally agree but where would i get the brackets from? no builder no idea where the sink was bought. should i just get the ones that look like they would fit best?

if that was me and you've quoted just to fit the sink.
i would speak to bob no brains builder and tell him that you supply the parts i fit. thats whats quoted.
half the parts are missing, can't do job, phone me when all parts are here, then i won't have to charge wasted time.

or say you keep your sink i'll supply and fit.

i take it your new to plumbing cause any sensible plumber would of walked. tell him i send an invoice for time wasted on the job already.
they are the worst people you could ever want to work for.

hehe yes im fairly new to it. only been doing plumbing full time for a year now and out of that year only been doing jobs on my own for 3ish months. ive done work for this builder before and had no problems at all. just this cheap sink.

You can buy sink brackets seperately just get some and charge the builder. Seems like the easiest option all round to me.

check all parts are there next time, if there not then dont touch it, never try bodgin it! cus once you have tried to fit it its usually then your fault...
