Floating vanity unit on solid non supporting wall.

Hello, I have a 4inch solid block wall and thinking of changing my basin to a floating vanity unit.

Without having to build a stud wall to hide the pipes, is it possible to track into the wall 1 &1/4 for the waste pipe and for the 1/2 inch hot and cold. The plumber I had in wouldn't do this and mentioned I needed another stud wall.

It can be done but I tend to agree with your plumber better to build a stud wall to hide pipework and drainage it will not effect the walls structure and strength. Kop

Build a stud wall to the height you want the vanity to sit off the floor.
That will hides the pipes under the vanity.
It also gives the vanity something to sit on instead of allowing all the weight on wall fixings.

The waste pipes and water pipes will be exposed in the back of the vanity, but you won't see them unless you look.

Or you could do a small boxing under the middle of the vanity to hide the plumbing.

Yes, this is what concerns me! 50% is alot and could open up a vertical crack the plumber said. He left this waste for me to decide, either cut into the wall myself or come up through the floor 8inches(if I remember right) from the wall so it's hid behind the pedastal sink.

To much to remove in my opinion I'm doing one at the moment and I'm building a stud wall out 50 mm . Kop

Sometimes it is possible just to do a small 'boxing in' section, tiled, under the vanity unit to the floor. Most units have a service void in them, or easily able to cut at the back/bottom to drop pipes through down to the floor. If you take out the board but leave the block work it won't protrude out much. Also make the boxing in line up with the tiles and you will hardly recognise it.
