Flomasta F-A-1089 drains into pan

Hello! I had to replace the flush mechanism of my loo. I installed the new mechanism mentioned above. All seemed well but the cistern slowly leaks into the pan! What did I do wrong? Thanks!

Thanks RPM! But I set in inflow valve to not very high. And the cistern drains itself entirely empty if I shut the water supply off. The outflow valve is clearly not properly closing, no matter what the water level is. And it’s brand new so it shouldn’t do that!

It sounds like it’s the washer betweeen the bayonet cradle of the flush valve and the cistern. Was the surface seating clean, any silicone used or old silicone not removed? Was it tight enough? If it’s the new valvewasher, again check for any debris, does it do this with the cistern lid on or off?

thanks Aquarius! I didn’t use any silicone, and I cleaned the cistern before putting the mechanism in. And it doesn’t matter whether the lid is on or not. But I’ll dismantle the whole thing again and have another look. There must be a reason that valve doesn’t properly close. I’ll report back!

Good, this proves it’s not the button, pushing down on the flush valve. Therefore it’s either the flush valve washer or the cradle.

i have taken it all apart again. Washer and cradle looked pristine! And squeaky clean. And when I put the cistern back and filled it from a bucket it was ok. But after a half flush it started to leak again! I figured the plunger doesn’t come all the way down or something, and weighted it down with some tin to see if that sorted it. But no...

Edit: put another bucket in and there is water coming down from the start. So it’s not the case that all is well until you flush. Hmmm...

Ok, do you have any additional information or photos? What was in before you replaced the valve? What cistern is installed? Might be that you may have the wrong sized washer?

i put some more tin on the valve and that seems to have done the trick! Maybe the valve just had slightly too much friction when coming down. I mean, this is fairly cheaply produced stuff. I wish I fully understood what the problem was and how it got sorted but I think I’ll just leave it now. Thanks for all the help!

I've just installed the same product and I'm experiencing exactly the same issue
