Hi there, looking for some advice with regards to fluctuating water pressure. Two mixer taps in my first floor bathroom, same makes of taps, hot water goes from a fast floww to a shudder and a complete cutout, cold goes from normal flow and gets faster. using a combi boiler for hot and cold straight off of mains. Other taps downstairs seem fine.

Been told that they may be high pressure taps???? Any advice appreciated.

Thanks.

Possibly the tap though if your running them off a combi then thats a high-er pressure than conventional gravity fed system. could be a partial blockage within the taps, pipework.
Bit of a hard one tell without being there and seeing things.
You could try turning off the water and disconecting the hot pipe then sticking a hose pipe on the hot and discharging somewhere suitable then turn the water back on to see what the flow is like...

When water is flowing through both hot and cold taps you need to remember that there is no pressure drop on the cold side the cold water that goes through the boiler heat exchange undergoes a considerable pressure drop so in theory the cold water will runs much faster then the hot, hydraulics are funny things

No pressure drop on hot either, only flow is reduced :)

You need to careful on this one, when there is no flow in a system the pressure will be static whatever in the mains, when the water starts to flow there is a pressure drop, there will be much more drop in the hot than the cold, if you had two separate taps you would be able to this this and it would be noticeable because you have a mixer tap this is difficult to see and judge. IMO and only IMO I would ban combi boilers unless you have one hell of a good service PRESSURE AND FLOW you are in trouble, I am a very old plumber I have a MEGA-FLOW at home and a WB condensing boiler, I can fill a bath in less than 90 seconds, if I open the hot bath tap too much when the bath his empty the water shoots up the far end of the bath into the curve and into the landing and down the stairs, burn all the COMBI boilers for me.
