Got a custard who wants to have the top section of his flue replaced with some nice modern tinny-looking stuff. The top of the precast flue section is asbestos & appears to be pre-formed. Does anyone know if there's a pre-formed metal replacement available, or would I have to get one made up?

what is that flue serving, how much life has it got left and is it worth spending money on

Wow thats high with no support above tiles. How high is it above the tiles.

Dunno how high it is, not visited the site yet. The pics are from a builder mate of mine.
I think it's serving a DFE. As I said, it's the customer who wants it replacing with something as he's having quit a bit of other work done...

Looks a complete mess. Remove asbestos back to the block then com away in right vent twin skin to a ridge terminal and forget that abortion

dont forget your asbestos vac, bags etc..... , cover your arse.

before you do anything else check the fire install, catchment/ starter blocks its probably illegal anyway and will need replacing with a leccy fire.

Rang builder dude today & basically gave him 2 options: leave well alone & don't tell me any more (if I see it I'll condemn it), or remove & cap off the gas fire and replace it with a leccy, as AW suggested.
I'm not messing about with it!

You can't turn blind eye!

Saying you weren't there is just stupid and you may aswell be illegal

Sorry read it as if he had been to job and taken pictures and was going to leave something that wasn't correct?
