Have been asked by a builder if its possible to run a flue through a window, the top three panes will be removed and replaced with 4 mm aluminium.
Reason not through wall is because its listed building.

I don't think you can do that on a listed building.
Be careful, you're responsible for the look if you know it's listed. You'll end up paying to sort it if it gets reported.
I've been in your position. Don't do anything unless it's in writing from above !
A window is still deemed as being openable even if screwed shut. There was a case in the west country a year or two ago that hinged on a window being opened again after being screwed shut. If memory serves it was a hotel and someone died.
Try and find an alternative location for the boiler.
in sunny newquay from memory, bloke must be getting out soon
builder is talking trollop, you need to consult with council heritage officer and ask their opinion, if the building is listed, the windows will be part of the listing!!

To be fair you can't compensate for idiocy ,
Isn't that a bit like installing a flue through a block wall then 5 years later someone puts a vent right next to it?
Any flue on a listed building will need permission. Surely by going through the window instead of the wall not only are you adding a flue to a listed building but also altering the Windows? Seems a bit of an odd idea to me.
