Just passed a job I missed out on , because I was £100.00 dearer I guess .it was done about 6 weeks
I noticed the flue was cut though the old air brick , and not cemented up the outside leaving the old vent holes , it's on the 1st floor , it's not to high to cement , so not sure why its been left ..

let me know where it is and ill go and knock tell them they are in danger of carbon monoxide poisoning at least they may give the cowboys a bit of a roasting

Saw a flue the other day vertical through roof about couple hundered mm from chimney stack so they had all the white sitting out the roof and a bracket to the chimney stack

I told landlords , but not interested ..

Thats a good point tell the tenant and get them to phone gas safe for an inspection. My mate went to a house and was doing something unrelated to plumbing and a pipe shot off her shower and managed to partially flood her house , apparently the heating and plumbing system was only 9 months old , It had a thing called an acccumalator which pumps mains water apparently but he said the flue was wrong all the PRV were going into a 15mm pipe work , so he switched it off and advised not to use anything on the system

the other bloke clearly didnt want to go up that high he probably got knocked a £100 and thought it might be dangerous or with all this hse stuff didnt want to fork out for a scaffold to block the old vent holes up
