fitted one today focalpoint l23 cheshire. had to ID it.

done checks at meter for soundnes had a 3mb drop isolated it at the isolating valve i fitted checked again no drop. open the valve drops, checked all my connections and they were sound, it must be a leak on the fire so it must be up to manufacture to rectify.

also gas rate was sky high actual gas rate kw was 1.74 required 1.15 i make that over gased by 51% so i had ti ID it.

brand new fire. first ID ive had to do.

9 times i have had to do this with focal points all over gassing bearing in mind someone died trough this focal point should be held responsible there appliances are still leaving the factory over set

no tbh but its looking like build quality and testing in the factory's a major issue

Responsible solution: Contact Focal point and ask them to deal with the situation. Also contact The Health & Safety Executive and report it to them. I would have suggested Gas Safe Register but I think there only interested in running a register.

ive left the appliance with the customer i take it its upto them to contact the manufacturer and get it sorted.

i felt guilty taking payment for the job but how i see it is its not my fault the appliance is faulty and i still need to be paid for my days work.
am i right or wrong

i agree with what reg man says aswell i am giving focal point a call in morning

The customer bought the faulty goods. Therefore, you found the fault and showed empathy to the customer for the situation (not your problem), but still need paying for your time. Its the customers problem because you did not supply the goods. They should be able to claim off the supplier for faulty goods and any resonable expenses incurred as a result.
