Hi i am about to flush my ch system with either ds40 or x40. If i were to use both together would this be to any advantage or would they fight each other and create any problems. Thanks for any advice for which product to use.

Sorry shoud say x400

I would not advise mixing the two as you will jhave no idea how the chemicals will react with each other. U se one or the other as they are both good products. Make sure you flush the system thoroughly with clean water after you have used the desludger. Then add a good inhibitor

Hi i have added the x400 and have taken the vent pipe outlet to a seperate drain. This was done to stop any sludge going into supply tank. System flush now running for about one week and have noticed that the supply tank is full of black coloured sludgy water. Any idea how this is. Thanks for any thoughts.

With a de-slugger in the heating system, the color of the water will go black as it cleans, remember the supply tank is also the expansion tank for the system, this is why the level of that tank is only 1/3 full to allow for expansion.
Moving the vent pipe is not a good idea.
Once de-slugger has run its course, then drain empty and re-fill, run, and re-drain with fresh water.
Then add inhibitor and fill system.

When you say the supply tank/expansion tank does this mean the black water is coming up from the boiler as i have already taken the vent pipe away from the tank to an other outlet.

I will try to explain my present setup with regards to last post. Standard exp tank ball cock inlet. Outlet down to boiler. The vent pipe/exp pipe feeds into the top of tank. I have added hose to vent/exp pipe to take any water away from tank (this is temp while flushing in progress). My question is where is the black water coming from. Is it coming up the supply pipe to the boiler or am i missing something. thanks.

If you get CH water out of the vent pipe then the system will replenish with fresh water which contains fresh oxygen which in turn leads to fresh corrosion, so put the vent pipe back over the tank. Yes the water IS coming up the feed pipe as the CH water will expend when heated. Do as the man said - run with the sludge remover for as long as iot says on the tin, then flush the whole thing out with fresh water and then when clean add corrosion inhibitor to prevent the water going black again with a fresh load of FeO. BTW if you think what you are doing equates to a powerflush then you are mistaken.

Thanks for your advice gentlemen. I will follow you instructions. Regards.
