Hi all,

I have the misfortune to be working on a central heating system with an old gas back boiler and a Fortic Primatic cylinder. Am I right in thinking the water for the heating system is inside this tank - and if so, what's the best way to isolate the F & E so I can cleanout all the sludge from the pipes and radiators?

Also, I've fitted a new pump but the water isn't circulating and heating the rads - could this be because somewhere (helpfully behind a wall possibly?) there's a stuck anti-gravity valve?

Many thanks in advance for any help!

If the cylinder is Primatic then you'll have to remove the cylinder and link the F&R & use a flush machine to clean the circ's :) Because of the design of a primatic they do not have a separate header and you DO NOT want the waters mixing !!! :)

Spot on DG.

F and E tank? there should not be one on a primatic cylinder, its inside the cylinder. Probably best to change the cylinder and add a f and e tank.

avoid the use of chems if its primatic.
