I don't want that piece of so called 'plumbing' - dirty nasty Yorkshire fittings

best way to do, buy new meter, then put the hoover on it to bring the reading up to existing meter. then just keep both readings the same :devilish:[/QUOTEUntil the meter reader comes along and clocks the MPRN is different. You'll last a while before you get a knock on the door! Btw Johnny are you on the drugs this past wee while because you are talking some amount of pysh. If you are going to do it think out the box and do it from the day you move in. Do you really think big gas are stupid and don't know what your average 3 bed semi uses? Make it hard for them.

I heard the pay n go meters if you drop a pen in the left side its unable to close so if you run out of credit the meter cant close so free gas ;)

The best one I've seen is the service pipe tee'd into under a suspended floor with ECV and regulator on, tee'd into the carcass under there too! Sneaky!

Last year in the area i work there was hundreds (chipped) were people where disconnecting the battery in the meter which cause it to stay open. The local gas supplier had put it on the radio that they would not prosecute if they phoned within a time scale to report it! I still have people phoning me asking if there is anything i can do as they havent paid for gas in years. They are told they are fcuked ;) and better start saving are get a thick blanket ;)

I was once working in a block of flats and BG were next door with a locksmith as they had been tipped off. I spoke to the enforcement officer and he said they are cracking down on it, supposedly if they can prove it the fines are huge and more often than not a jail sentence thrown in. However he did say trying to prove the individual was guilty was near impossible!

I often wondered why people didn't make these... Turns out they do.

I wouldn't never do it, the risk far outweighs the reward!

British Gas actually have a purpose made fitting with test nipple that bridges the meter connections they are used when they relocate meters from external boxes to inside , mostly in flats

''The Old Bailey was told that the meter was by-passed using sticky tape which began to leak to such an extent that it would have exploded within hours.''

Just gotta love the inventiveness, Sticky Tape!!!!!!

None of it would be necessary if the thieving energy companies played with a straight bat and charged a fair price.

I do think that energy prices are fair in this country. The world has moved on and so has the whole energy industry. The facts are that we are now a nett importer of gas. That gas comes from a number of sources. There are a number of subsea pipelines from Scandanavia and holland. There are also a couple of LNG importation terminals. The biggest one was built a couple of years ago at Isle of Grain.

As you might expect, imported gas is more expensive and subject to the daily changes in the market. It is actually traded just like a commodity on the international markets.

Meanwhile our power generation infrastructure is getting old. A lot of it is end of life and/or mothballed.

A lot of it is gas fired..with that expensive imported gas.

There is very little storage capacity in the UK. There is no money in storing gas. The in day gas useage is estimated and planned for,it is bought on the market, brought on shore and used. If it gets cold, The grid has to buy in gas to make up the shortfall and it costs more. If it warms up and they have a surplus, they sell it on the markets and ship it out again.

People must get a grip of the energy markets. They must learn to use gas less and use it more efficiently (i.e ditch those combis and get some storage!).

British Gas Revenue protection are one of the most pro-active units for chasing debt and fiddlers. They are the gas equivalent of SWAT.

Taking a battery out of a quantum meter causes it to shut off and log a fault code.

Stolen gas...and theres plenty of it...isnt free. The rest of us pay for it.
