If a gas meter is piped in lead what procedure needs to be carried out? Also if the ECV has no handle?

If no handle on ECV classed as AR if non emergency, call supplier to fit new valve.

Strongly advise to the customer that the lead pipe needs to be replaced,
ring the supplier / Transco they'll come fix the ecv

Ok. Thank you. I did hear my gas safe colleague tell the customer but I was unsure whether it can be left like that.

Think about it ! what happens if they get a gas leak and can't turn off supply ?

That's why I'm asking. It's obviously dangerous. I just wondered what the correct procedure was.

lead pipe can be left as long as its not leaking. missing handle needs to be reported to nat grid who will attend and replace

I called in a fault a few weeks ago , the lever just about moved with a fight, but didn't 'fall to off' transco man called me a jobs worth, the old dear in the house would nt have had a clue what to do.

had the same sort of things myself. A while back i reported stiff ecv and the engineer that came out and said it was fine and i had wasted his time calling him out. I got the home owner to try and turn the handle off and she could not. The engineer then changed the valve.
Also been told by a few engineers i should adjust the guv's myself to save them coming out, i just laugh at them.

Even if I have to use a lump hammer to turn it off, I do. Then label it. That way they have no choice but to attend. Couldn't care less what names they call me. I need an ECV the occupant can operate, simples
