If you are doing it in a bpec centre they will provide you one to use during the exam, you aren't allowed to take your own in with you in case you have cheat sheets etc in it, and if you are paying anyone for training they normally supply you one to keep, make sure all the typos are fixed in in, think there are still about 20odd at least, I've got a list of them somewhere

how can you cheat on an open book set of exams??????????????

Crazy isnt it? They dont want you to annotate the book to make it easier to use. However your supposed to use it in the field, so whu not make it user friendly

It's not so much about not making it easier to use in the field, but if people get training and something comes up,in training eg a particular statement about a pipework requirement or a vent requirement, if someone puts an "*IN EXAM" beside a specific diagram that could be seen as cheating if that diagram is in the exam, so the centre prefers candidates to use clean books from our cupboard to ensure the candidate doesn't have anything they shouldn't have! we have actually caught someone with a "crib" sheet of scribbled info he got from someone in his firm who,sat the exam two days before, I think that's cheating, and proves he knew he wasn't competent enough to pass his reassessment as he wasn't working properly every day, he got binned by us, but I'm sure he just went somewhere else

People are allowed to make some notes or highlight their book if that helps, and sometimes if we look through their book and it's only highlighted we let them use it as a comforter haha, to be honest I can't find answers in someone's book of it's highlighted everywhere, a highlight is supposed to be used to pick out specific info quickly, not helpful if there's highlighter on every other page

Thanks guys for your input, I will order one from Bpec on Monday, I go to Warrington and they give you the books for the exam. this was just so i had the book for myself, once again thanks guys

But you won't know what the mistakes are

If you go on the upperplumbers website they have a load of free online tests.
