I heard from someone that on a GSI , you don't have to do a tightness test ., Dont panic , I DO

Contractors in Scotland who do gas certificates don't do tightness tests, because they are not breaking any seals. Thats what an engineer told me.

Doesn't it mention in the safety cert - about adequate gas tightness? With a yes or no box?

These boys get about £18 per cert.

if i only got £18 i'd do as little as possible too

Your right mate, but at the end of the day it's a priceless feeling leaving a property knowing you've carried everything out correctly. I'd hate to be at court for an £18 cert.

There's an article on landlords checks in the Nov Gas safe mag. This states that tightness tests don't need to be done but it is regarded as good practice.

always done it, as i wouldnt want to be in court with my name on the last cert given to the customer-for not chcking for a gas leak which could be catastrophic-which only wouldve tooken 4 mintues of my time, its not worth sumones life-regardless on who the customer is.

i always thought a safety cert ment the gas installation pipe work is safe as well, couldn't believe it when I read it in gas safe mag..
