hi all,
Quick question, i have a service + breakdown cover contract with Ideal, now should they issue me with a gas safety cert after the service or just fill out the service record sheet in the manual (which is all they did only when asked for a safety cert). I always thought a service would be similar to a commission so a cert should be issued at a service? Ideal fitted the boiler and i was never given a gas cert at inatallation stage so i think Ideal are not doing their job!

in this boiler installed in a rented property?

If not then what they've done is correct. A gas safety certicate is for landlorded properties

everybody should have a yearly inspection and safety certificate issued, thats just recommended.

landlords are obliged by law to have them.

thanks for the replies. This is a private property which they service each year. so when you say it is just a recomendation, if they service it they dont have to issue a cert unless its rented, is that right.

we don't do them for our customers with boiler contracts, only landlords.
Ideal have done the same as I wouldve done for my employer.

put it this way, landlords pay alot more for gas safety certs, therefore if you wanted one, you need to pay for it (extra). Safety certs test the complete gas installation of your house, ie gas meter, gas pipework, boiler, gas fire, gas cooker, gas tumble dryer etc
