Hi,
Our 16 year old Myson Economist 100,000Btu gas boiler just stopped a year ago and we had a new gas control valve fitted. Since then the gas bills seem to be much MUCH bigger.
When the engineer fitted the new valve he didn't adjust anything on the valve - just bunged the new one in. Now I might be wrong, but, surely they need fine tuning to get the best gas/air mix or flow.
I'm now thinking of a new boiler to try and cut the bills, or should I get the old beast retuned?

Cheers

you are on the right track, although it isnt technically tuning to get the best gas/air mix, it is ranged rated to burn the correct ammount of gas for the load on your system (rads on hot water) it is an old boiler so when you book the next annual service (!!!!!!!) advise the engineer you want an anual service and discuss the comment on high gas bill, he will as a matter of procedure check/adjust the gas pressure to the correct load as part of the service, let us know how you get on

bang on K ,burner pressure maybe to high or have gas prices gone up perhaps or maybe you have it on longer that you think
