What will I be expecting from the exams, and is there any point of getting books to help or is allot of it just experience ??

Learn the gas regulations front to back, concentrate on chimney standards and ventilation. Know your components and what they do.
The practical side is concerned with safety checks, not competence in diagnosing and fixing appliances.

Get all the books you can, and don't look to deeply into the questions, you will end up frying your head and spending hours stressing, good luck!!

Thanks that was allot of help : ) any books that you recommend ??

most of the training literature is very similar, although people will quote favourites, i work in a bpec centre and use their stuff, which i have found a few mistakes in, viper and the corgi books are also quite well laid out, have you sorted out where you are doing your training and assessments as all training notes are usually provided by them, so it isnt really worth buying more books when you will get them when you start your training

category 2 candidates who are time served, experienced plumbers should be able to learn gas theory in 6 weeks, did you also do a portfolio of evidence?

He is ripping the P Kirk. We all know an experienced plumber is just a straight through:tongue:

Read the question throughly, its is easy to miss a word. For example, you read the question " Where would this be allowed?", when it actually says " Where would this NOT be allowed".

Its amazing how a simple word can completly change a question.

hey guys, can anyone help me out got to re sit gas papers as my 5 years are up.I been away traveling and not done to much as work of late has anyone got anything u can email me to revise with ???

Unsafe situations
the orange bible = essential gas safety
gas safe regs

make amendments as kirk gas says, use sticky tape and paper to easy find important bits. I know your on about the actual gas exams so you can't do this I.e mark the books etc but they are a necessary investment and you will need them for the rest of your career

i pulled these 3 books out of my bag before I started work on my first ever gas safe inspection, got a mixed look from the inspector but said they are just as important as my hand tools and if ever I'm ever in doubt about something I make safe and look at my books or phone a friend

When you do ACS you shouldn't be allowed to use your own books, you should be issued with clean, new ones so that you don't cheat, believe me some do try haha

I just sat my LPG and 4 questions were marked in the book by someone else, I didn't think it looked like the right answer so checked, they got 3 out of 4 wrong lol.
