I hope this is in the right place people,im removing my gas fire to put a woodburning stove in and the fella whos doing it(hetas registered)says i have to take the pipework out up to the point where it tees off to the cooker, and a plumber told me that it was ok to leave it as long as it was a metre away from the stove.I would like to think i could just leave it for a later date if anyone wants a gas fire again, but i dont want to be worrying about blowing the family up either, has anyone come up against this kind of thing before? Thanks for reading,regards,grumbles...

so you've spoken to the Hetas man, you've spoken to the plumber, now all you need to do is get a Gassafe registered engineer to cut back safely the gas connection.

Thankyou gentlemen,i asked because i need to know if i can just disconnect at the fire or do i have to take it back to where it tees off to the cooker because if thats the case i have a hardwood floor to take up for the plumber...
