gas fire mysteriously goes out after 12 hours?

Hi everyone, went to a customers house today, their complaint was that their inset gas fire goes out after 12 hours of constant use on low flame. i went over. looked up the flue - all clear, flue flow test no problems,
put fire back and did 2 spillage tests both perfect. checked pilot light - worked perfect. Gas rate - spot on, ventilation was ok (6kw fire), terminal was ok. i really couldnt find anything obvious that would make the fire go off after 12 hours.

house was a little bungalow with a brick chimney.

does anyone know what could be the cause?

does it have an OSD/ASD assembly? spillage/down draught can cause the pilot to go out (as it should) but if it is caused by external air pressure down the flue it might not do it when you are there, the other possible cause is partial blockage of the pilot, which can cause the pilot to go out which will shut the main burner down

all of that is very true,can lead to this problem but if its a flavel which i do warranty work for,they have had a batch off microswitches causing this fault,also valors prone to this(the yellow lead type)

had a similar thing on a boiler,turned out to be low pressure when everyone put there gas on in the street cos customer was last in line theres went out govener locked cos pressure was 11mb person had gas on all day with no probs till people came home

I've found the little air entrainment hole on the side of the pilot assembly to be a problem in the past. Cleaning doesn't work sometimes and I've had to replace them.
