So long as it passes all tests it is fine. Like you say you could recommend a CO alarm. Just mark N/A on Safety Device on the CP12/CP1.

fire ok,i tend to have a off the record chat, saying the fire is coming to the end of its life, parts are going to hard to find, maybe time to think of fitting a new fire,go for a roby wily great landlord fires

Think you will find that if the gas fire installed in a lounge with no fsd before 1996 is ntcs. After this date it is classed as at risk.

FSD only required in a communal building (flat) or in a bedroom or room containing a bed,I think if the appliance is under 14kw

sorry im wrong that is for bedsits.......I read it as sitting room and missed the bed bit

i Know it just says ASD . No reference to other types.

I cant find anything in the gas safe situations that refers to a gas fire in a lounge with no fsd being NTCS or AT RISK.

Not got the unsafe proceedures book to hand, is it under 14kw or am I dreaming that bit?

Theres nothing specific to gas fires, it's just open flued or flueless appliances in general. Definitely required for flats/communal's hence all new cookers needing FSD.

its online but it wouldnt let me post you the link just google gas safe unsafe situations.

You can have a gas fire in a bedroom upto 14kw gross 12.7kw net sorry page 41 point 10.9

Think ill ring them tomorrow .

just spoke to gas safe. No FSD on Gas fires in lounge in NTCS.

Also found out that no fsd on hob is ok in bedroom/bedsit providing the room is min of 20m3

its is also ok to fit a second hand cooker into a flat with no FSD. This would be classed as nTCS even if it was after 1.6.2008.

although its second hand should it not be fitted to the current requirements?

If the cooker is fitted with no fsd after 1st of June 2006 it is still classed as not to current standards not at risk
It is so that people are not penalised moving to a smaller property

who's fitting the cooker ? whose cooker is it ? if you as a gsr then should be to current standards. if tenant or landlord plugging it in then you come along and do llsc then its ncs imo

you cant fit an appliance to NCS. it must be fitted to current standards.

According to Gas safe its this is ok to fit a cooker ntcs so that people moving down market from house to flat for example are not penalized.

Also found out today that you can use LPG cooker hose on NG but not the other way round.
