working on a boiler in a house today and noticed the fire - it was an ILF fire there was 2 lines of soot on the back panel .i gas rated it and did a spillage test which it passed , flame looked ok- thought it could be the coals that were incorrectly positioned but they seemed ok.i have come across this before due to coals but this was rather a lot more soot than i have seen.anyone got any advice

thanks ant

Maybe the burner needs completley stripping, washing out & drying with a blow lamp, carefully check the injector & clean any filters.
Or could be one of those fires that produce some soot, If still produces too much soot for your liking contact the manufactures, or disconnect & make safe. ID
