what would you class, not been able to access the builders opening when doing a landlords cert on a gas fire,i'm sick of fires been glued, sealed into position,i have to date just been noting it on cp 12,but unsure if i should be doing more ....?

It's AR as far am I'm aware. I've had loads of inset fires like this and AR'd them all

AR. Did one last year, managed to remove the mastic and then fire to look into the opening and see the back of next doors fire.Turned out the whole street had the same problem.

If you cannot access it it is AR imho usually there is a slot on the bottom which you can have a look through , I hate messing about with gas fires

had same with metal fireplace with wood surround, couldnt remove without removing surround, gassafe said it was ok

i know fires are nightmare there is always something,i did have a good luck the best i could, but there's nothing like the fire out ,and a good look up the chimney, and clean out of catchment and of course a smoke test/.,./..../,

it wasnt a closure plate, specially shaped fireplace, didnt have air vent at bottom

goodnight, 10 services,2 landlords,1bathroom install,a game of pigeon toss with sparky all before the ice cream van passes the top shops,up at the crack off, later

i ar'd it an got visit from gs, their inspector said it was ok ??

so did you get the qa to countersign your cert with the date he was there to take responsibility for it, he is bang out of order and doesnt know his job
spillage test passed and not able to fully inspect catchment space is AR, it could be full of debris to "just" under the fire spigot which could block and kill the family tomorrow, the whole idea of the defined catchment space is to allow us a chance of cleaning it every year and not killing anyone so how can he say no inspection=OK, i hate people who dont do real work for a living and think they know everything (did i just say that out loud or think it)

no neither am I
I am bitter and twisted lol
Yes I agree that is wrong if he could not inspect the catchment area defo AR if not ID

I avoid gas fires nowadays , I had one last week that had been disconnected and the customer who rents out rooms in his house thought it was a case of just reconnecting it . I explained there was a reason why it was disconnected and I was not going to reconnect it without the correct paperwork, I advised him to get the local fire shop company out who installed it and he commented that there was no paperwork with it , I did a let by and tightness test and charged him. Best tx him and tell him he needs a GLSC by law

spillage test must be done therefore result will determine whether it is AR or ID
