i went to service a gas fire ,when i put a smoke pellet i got a lot of back draft ,so i got the chimney/flue swept and a anti-draft cowl put on,now ods is tripping fire out, no air ports on fire ,at a loss.

What type of fire is it, are the flue rstrictors all out? Try opening a window to simulate ventilation, if it works stick a vent in. Other than that how restrictive is the new terminal?

been back to this gas fire, the flue is working ,pulling well, but gas fire still tripping out, some times it will work and sometimes it will burn for 5mins ,and sometimes 1minute,could it be a faulty oxy pilot assembly, every thing worked before my initial visit

Could well be the pilot assy, they are sometimes temperamental.

Well it did work before you touched it.
That is known as the Law of Sod.

customers standing over me ,saying well it worked before what did you do.....!i've ordered one..i'm hoping this sorts it out

"Yes it worked however the job it was doing is not what it was designed to do i.e. Kill You."

I think you are on the right track, maybe if you have the make and model we could take a look, might make fault finding easier.

Is it an asd pilot or has it got a link in the t/c to a limit stat?

many flues pass the flow test but once you run the appliance the sheer volume of poc's can cause spillage. You cant really simulate the poc volume on a flow test. is it spilling when the fire cuts out? if the new pilot dont fix it id remove the cowl and test.

i got a new oxy pilot assembly and the fire still tripped out,i removed anti draft cowl still tripped out what the hell going on,flue has got a good pull, flues in good nick and fire work before i tested it,.
