REDSAW

sorry lads,
i am a bit of a idealist and i have to ask because its really bugging me, before i just went to the back of someone elses van and there it was.
i want to go shopping altough i will have some of the gear anyway.

what is the essentials for gas fitting, ie: pads, cont/earth, spare mano, cab key etc, etc.

i want everything in the van so i know i have it, even for those rare occasions stuff.

thanks,:eek::p:p:p

fire extinguisher
running shoes
fast car
really really really good public liability
fire proof suit
red adairs private phone number
a fire engine
a large supply of incontinence nappies
the direct line for your local bomb disposal team
Gas Safe phone number on speed dial

Well that list should cover you for the every day things now the list for the unusual and rare occasions stuff...........

blank caps, various sizes, 3/4" & 1"meter discs, gas ptfe, LDF (and spare LDF) warning notices and labels, these allow you to "deal accordingly" with any issues you have, if you dont have time to repair.
temp continuity bond, gas sniffer (optional, but brilliant to have when you need it) i used to have a list that i used to confirm the guys had all their stuff, i will have a look for a copy

fga, manometer, hawk white, (cooker chains i always keep 2-3 on the van), forms, mutimeter

another must for me is disposable gloves i hate pulling out the oven or cooker when it has'nt been cleaned for years

get your self a quality spanner set and socket set they will be invaluable for boiler servicing, also buy toolstations multi head cleaning brush set, well happy with mine

Am quite enamoured with my 10mm nut driver. Beats the heck out of spanners or screw drivers for gas meter test points. Even have a 8mm for some burner pressure test points.

ah, thanks gm, was looking at the brush set.
i have a nice 1/4'' snap-on deep socket set.
whats best sizes for spanners?

5.5 up to 22mm 1/4 perfect size for boilers, magnetic bowls handy as well

the only cheap tool i have ever bought was a wee socket set with a screwdriver type handle, i chucked all the sockets in the bin as i only wanted the 10mm for meter test points, it is perfect as the socket holds the nut inside the fiddly meter boxes, and because it is cheap and nasty the handle is narrow so you dont get much grip which is perfect to ensure i dont overtighten the nut,
