I see this a lot in far eastern peoples homes,to keep hob clean,mind you looks like hob not that clean anyway

This is not allowed however and is dangerous , as if any gas leak develop on hob,gas can collect and build up under foil and with a high probability of being ignited ,can cause a lot of damage and severe injury
