gas hob dodgy install

got call-out to smell of gas at bungalow guy replaced cupboard door,s electric oven and gas hob. he told lady his friend a gas fitter would do gas pipe to hob for the sum of £100.00 .got out of van and the smell of gas was over-powering 10mts away isolated gas and investagted .the tit had gas pipe connected with 3x 90 degree comp joints the nut to hob was finger tight but the best was when he put oven in it didn,t fit so he cut a section of the oven out took pic,s but having bother uploading them. this is one of them many moments of dis-belief yet again.:hanged:

Yes but they must be used in conjunction with a spanner to tighten them up.

i once refused a landlords cert as the gas pipe was piped up following the stair case treads in compression 11 steps and right round the wind at the top to feed an ascot in the bathroom all in 15mm ptfe round every thread

I always use 1/2"fi to 15 comp to connect to hob makes removal at a later date much easier. Rest of pipe work soldered though inc 15mm fan cock

I try and avoid fitting gas gobs. No money in them and if any things going to leak its going to be those dodgey foreign connections they seem to come with.

Yeah, this. I usually make excuses when asked to fit hobs. If it's an existing customer I do it, but usually too much hassle for the money.

Thats it, they don't accept the price. Think your to expensive and don't call you again. "But its only a pipe connection, its a straight swap"
