Hi all,
Not a GS question really but hope you can help. Went to replace a hob today which was fine. The old hobs electrical supply was hard wired the l.n and e where all very thick, I was thinking to conect via a terminal connector and choc box onto the new hob. Turns out the new hob wouldnt fit any way as hole not big enough so a blessing in disguse, my question is can you connect via this method and if so what terminal connection would you use - 3A, 5A, 15A? Hope this makes sense
Cheers

It would have been connected to the electric cooker outlet.
It shouldn't really be done like that but it happens a lot. It is even worse if it is connected directly to the 6mm cable. This circuit is rated at 30 - 45 amp.
Better to leave it unconnected and advise to get a spark in.

Maybe you should invest in a jigsaw too.

All hobs with electric ignition must be fitted with a 13 amp plug, with a 3amp fuse, into a socket
