Hi
Just moved into new house with brand new fitted kitchen only to find the gas hob not working. Closer inspection reveals the stupid builders didn't bother getting it connected and as far as I can see there's nothing to connect it to anyway. The gas central heating boiler is located 4 cupboards away but you can't see any pipe work for that either as it's been plaster boarded over and the new cupboards fitted in front. Has anyone come across this before and is there anyway a corgi registered engineer would be able to sort it out without obviously ruining the new kitchen? Thought about swapping it for an electric one but that needs hard wiring so again not easy to do without disturbing the new tiles etc.. Any advice would be great thanks

Get in touch with the building company and get them to sort it for free. They would have all the trades to rectify it at no cost to your self as they messed up.

possible you can run a new supply under the units or taking units out of a kitchen isn't always that difficult just get a gas safe plumber to give a price if you put your location on here there maybe some one close enough to quote

Yeh but it is brand new. That is like buying a car with out a door. Your not going to take it to a breakers yard for a door, your going to take it to the dealers. Kick off. Get a new door and some free floor mats and mud flaps for messing you round!

That'll be one of those new Infra Red gas connections, no pipe required.

Lack of co-ordination between kitchen fitter and GSR, gas pipe is probably behind an adjacent unit and they've moved the hob position.

See if you can remove the plinth from under the unit and have a look to see if a pipe is under there.

Thanks for the replies..Even if could get the builder back he'd be here quite a while finishing all the hidden unfinished work we've since found so for my sanity and his life think it's best he stay well clear and we get the pros in! Glad to hear there may be some hope of fixing it anyway

Make out your snagging list and give the builder a chance to put things right. Prioritise your list.

you may find that the gas supply is hidden behind a cupboard next to the hob position. Its normal practice to first fix the gas supply to the cupboard next to the hob so you can access the isolation device when the hob its connected.
