Hello all,Can anyone give me an idea of what working pressure I should be looking for at a standard size built in hob?I just fitted this built in hob at my house that I bought second hand that came with no instructions. Don't know make or model either but its the standard size burners seen on these type of built in 600mm hobs.Do I want to put u guage on one of the nozzles and test OP with other 3 burners on? What sort of minimum pressure should I be looking for? Or should I just be checking to see I've got less than one mb drop from Meter to appliance?By the way I am GSR but only for boilers and pipework so I guess this counts as 'competent' to fit in my own house!Cheers guys.

no .....you are braking the low ! however gas rate is all you can do ,....unless you fit a test point just before gas hob
but is not required

Thanks but do you know min OP? I remember reading somewhere about 16 mb.

op ???? you mean burner pressure ! if you put house to one of the burners you will get BP ! working pressure(if you fit a test point ) from appliance it should be 1 mbar less then what you read from meter !

gas rate it ,is there enough ventilation ,is there iso valve ,is there earth to gas ?

min burner pressure is only to be known by the manufacture and they will not tell you this unless you asked them

Can't you contact the manufacturer for the mi's, or try to find them online.

there is no need for it as if it did then , Manufacture would have supply you with test point for reading working pressure and burning pressure

You should have 20 mb standing at the hob which is what they are designed for usually stamped on the appliance or on the box. you probably can test that with a gauge on a burner I never thought of that. If you have enough you then do a gas rate with other appliances on to be sure it is correctly pipe sized.

other appliances should be off except the one you're doing the gas rate on.

You got it right with testing wp at a burner with the other 3 running. No one in the real world will fit a test point.
You are looking for around 20mb or no more than a 1mb drop across pipework.

I fit hobs all the time and that's how I test working pressure. I usually put the gauge on the smallest and have the other burners on. You are looking as Tamz says for 20mb, no more than 1mb drop.

Isn't there a data badge on the underside of the hob? Every one I've ever fitted has had one

But this is you burning pressure now your working pressure !http://www.ukplumbersforums.co.uk/images/smilies/6.gif

Ok so I've done a gas rate which is almost bang on so all good there BUT when I tested OP (operating pressure) I found something interesting. When I tested from the largest burner so the three smallest were on there was a drop of one mb (22 at meter and 21 at hob). But when I tested from smallest burner so three largest were burning the drop was more like 7mb down to 15mb OP.I am planning to fit gas oven to same supply so what tests should I perform then? What do you guys think?

Lol, ok This is how I test working pressure at the burner when i fit gas hobs! I stand corrected on my terminology Stan.

sorry pal did not mean to upset you any how ! just that I always believe that taking reading from the actual burner jet is class as burning pressure ,that is all !

No probs Stan, we're cool. Hope you're having a good week so far!

Why do you need earth to gas? Is this a requirement?

I know gas pipe needs to be earthed within 600mm of meter, but does it need to be earthed additionally by hob? That's what the post implied and if that is the case I didn't know!
