how many people fix gas hobs ? been asked to look at a few where the hob lights but once the knob is released it goes out so the fsd has had it on that burner . normaly replace the hob as its cheaper . just out of intrest I stripped down an old hob I took out - heck I don't think they are made to be taken apart

I replace rather then repair to be honest done 3 in the last 2 weeks. By the time I've spent a few hours dicking about with it the labor cost is that of a new hob

I took one apart once and had to order a new set of ignitors with a new switch and go back later to swap it

They are so thin, once you open them up they hardly ever go back the same!
Most people want them working again as your leaving so for me it's a replace and forget job.

been to it cleaned the jets and the burners and its working now - took measurement ready for new one if it fails

Replacing the fsd is a handy enough fix. Remove screws from cover and the fsd just pulls out of spindle, just depends on how much you can get fsd for. Replacing the fsd on an oven in a lot more awkward and they can be very expensive.

I replaced the electrode on a hob today. What a fiddly ballache of a job.

i have replaced a custards hob and kept the knobs to repair the broken ones on mine:):)
