Hi all,

Had a phone call from a chap wanting me to fit a boiler for him in a new restaurant and the extractor has come with a GIS. My question is this.

Do I need to and CAN I (no catering on my ticket) even thought all the cooking equipment is electric and the only gas appliance will be the boiler.

Many thanks

MK

If there aren't any gas appliances in the room where the extract hood is, you don't need the interlock.

If the boiler is open flued and he wants it in the room where the extract is, you know the answer.

I agree with Snow. The only reason for an interlock system is to prove the operation of the extract and, if fitted, supply air fans before enabling the gas. Obviously you won't want the boiler downstream of the solenoid. Keep an eye on your ventilation too.

The interlock systems I like have proving built into them too.

Cheers guys, the boiler is a RS combi so there is no issue with ventilation.

Thanks guys, was just concerned about the literature on the extractor stating that any new install needs a GIS.
