Attended a house today to look at a job and ended up finding a gas leak so made safe, phoned Gas board as I believe it was on supply side and ECV was stiff as hell making it hard for me to do an accurate tightness test. It was mild iron pipe into ECV, then lead pipe to the regulator. I think I pinpointed the leak to the lead coupling connecting to the regulator with my gas sniffer.

Didnt have any paperwork or labels with me at the time(changed from my van to a company one only took my tools as guys in work had all the gas paperwork) Have given my gas ID to the operator on the phone, question is will I get my baws booted for not leaving any paperwork ?

Could be iffy if custard turns back on fella and you've no signature.

heey wasnt me that done it, i was just on the job at the time:p

The guy would turn up and if he was a decent guy he would probably just change the old lead pipe for a new anaconda and regulator. I wouldnt worry too much as you reported it verbally and gave your ID, some guys probably wouldn't even have went that far.. They would have actioned it within 4 hours anyway.

I personally never leave. I don't like it when the gas board go there and tell stories to custard of me overreacting

Also it's a good opportunity to get some van stock of 5's and 10's

Nope! The guy turning up doesn't generally give a hoot! Just has a job to check out gas leak at meter and his job will be to make good or pass the buck IMHO

No worries gerry!

thanks guys

me too but i had just finished a 7 rad system and was stopping by before going home for my dinner to have a look, was bloody starvin as i dont really take tea brakes and was chokin to get home, as long as i made it safe then I was happy plus a plumber i knew was on the job.

Seem to be getting haunted with gas leaks this week, had one again today when i was connecting up new gas supply, outside run and it was pishin from the heavens, should have waited until it passed but time is money so had problems with soldered fittings.

as long you did make safe you have done your job ! Any one has asked them for 5s and 10s stop ends ?

5s are ECV rubbers.
10s are meter union rubbers

ESP Eng wont be interested inyour paperwork . They will just turn up and do the job..simples.

I didnt know they ran a benevolent society though..
