Hi lads

Just been to a very small flat (so need for a secondary gas meter) and the pipework has a branch that has been capped off downstream of the meter.

1) Do I have a responsibility to report this to the gas transporter as there's a possibility that some person has messed about with there side

OR

2) Keep my snout out

OR

is there a 3rd option?

May well of fed an adjacent flat. Not likely but you never know.
Personally I wouldnt get involved.
As long as everything is all ok gas wise ie tightness ok, then I would forget about it.
Obviously though it is your shout

3rd option, tell him you might be able to reduce his gas bill:wink_smile:
i'm with grahamgas , dont get involved.

sorry to disagree but i would report, always cover your back,as the last engineer there its your head on the block, mate

if its capped properly then its nothing to do with you, more bother than its worth reporting it to anyone

As above,. If it is capped properly what difference does it make. It is not your responsibility.
I had one last year where i was doing a gas rate and the meter was sticking so i couldn't rate it. I just said to the guy it is your shout. I phone it in and you get bigger bills or i fill in the usual shyte on the paperwork (other tests were done).
He wisely went with the cheap gas!
I may pay the subscription but i am not or ever will be, a polis.

How/where is the tee? Are you saying there is a tee before the ECV or has something been cobbled between the ECV and primary regulator?

You say it is 'downstream' of the meter which means the gas is passing through the meter and being registered as being used and somebody is paying for it - you?

Sorry pssst & Powerflush2 just re read my post, the t that has been capped is after the reg & ECV and before the gas meter! I got my streams mixed up will check the orange 'bible' tmrw after some sleep and punish myself for my error! :90:

Keep out of it.It should have been reported by now anyway by the meter reader

Hmmm..so some kind of adaptor has been used between the Regulator outlet and the meter inlet and this is feeding a secondary meter ??

Then it wouldn't be secondary meter I guess if it was avoiding primary meter. Sounds strange to me. :confused5:

I had this few mths ago, the pipe was tee off in the middle of the flat that went up to the next flat.
I alter the route and rerun the gas to the new boiler.for the new owner
I later found out that the person above that has now move on,that was getting a freebies ends up marrying the woman below
