Gas meter union removal

How do you remove a gas meter union when there's a security washer blocking it?
Or how do you remove the security washer?

There’s a special tool that grips on to it bes sell them or I just use a hammer an chisel

£64! I think I'll continue to use a pair of pliers to spread open that opening. Hammer and chisel sounds harder...
