Hi guys

I am starting to take on more boiler repairs and am thinking I should carry a few basic spares based on my knowledge of the area.

Now I know what I want to carry but I don't know how best to store it in the van to prevent it being knocked about and broken/damaged.

Any suggestions or photos of your solutions would be amazing.

Thanks

matt

II used to carry parts, but found due to the cost and having them bounce around in van I no longer bother you need to carry so meny different parts, ok if your only dealing with one or two types of boiler, + I'm close to parts outlet, just dead money sat in van , if you can afford to have parts sitting around ok, think its not to bad if you do oil.

i'd vote for only carrying parts for the most common boilers and the parts that are identical across the range of that make of boiler, most people are happy to wait for parts if found

My thoughts were going to be things like nTCs, hall switches that kinda thing. Not loads of stock but enough to test/swap should a fault be detected

I always carry a couple of universal thermos (still plenty of bbu's and fires around here) a gionanni ? diaphragm, which fits quite a few older combi's andc also some thermistors that fit a few older boilers
Got a box of odds and sods as well, couple of igniter cables, prv's and aps's
Won't hurt the customer to wait a day or two for you to order a part, makes them more grateful when it's finally fixed
I don't always like to fix on first visit, sometimes they need to be without their boiler to really appreciate it :ciappa:

hwos box of thermistors, all the baxi 105 etc diaphragms, gloworm flow switch, ionisation probe, 2nd habd pcbs off baki 80e,105e etc (essential proving aids), boiler repair box from regin, spare icos pcb n control display, modena pcb all 2nds, the rest just builds up. Dont even go there for oil spares, basically carry the HWOS generic catalogue :)

Flipping looks hooge..its actually r
250x200x150mm

I carry universal t.couples, various thermistors, few o/h stats, vaillant/ gw graphite gaskets.

Thanks guys I'll remember to keep a good backup. Never actually thought it might be worth the time and effort

Cheers all for replying appreciate your time

All I carry now is

2 port valve
3 port valve
Room stat
Pump
22 mm pump valves
Pressure relief valves
Universal and super universal thermocouples.

Then oil is a lot different I carry most things to repair burners and am looking to build up a stock of common parts on worcester and grant boilers.

I used to carry loads of spares when I worked for a company but then all I did was service and maintenance and they had been fitting the same brand of boiler for 15 years, but now I do installs as well it is difficult to carry everything and still leave room in the van and around me most gas parts I need I can either get that day or next day and there is merchants in most towns, oil can be a bit of a pain in the rear which is why I'm looking to build up more of a stock.

I keep a few controls. Baxi plate, flue brackets and filling loop. Thats about it. There maybe a little more but its been there so long and unused i cant remember lol
