I have to get a gas pipe from one side of the kitchen to the other, which is about 2 metres. For a hob. The floor is concrete and I see in the viper book it says you should keep as close to the load bearing walls or foundations as possible. But, is it ok to run it straight across the room? As long as it is covered by 50mm of screed?

am lucky there, there is a labourer who will do this for me. As long as it is ok then that is what i shall do

What material are you using mutley?

copper wrapped in denso. No joints as its only 2 metres so bend either side. Yes it is handy when a labourer is supplied

never dealt with trak before. Is it easy to connect to copper then? No special flaring tools and that?

Just need the cutter and you're away. Just need iron to copper couplers.

so does trak pipe come with a threaded end then? It is alright to do in copper though right? I have seen it in the viper book unless this is old

thanks for all the info but for this little run i am just going to use copper i thinks

Tracpipe is too expensive unless it is specced on the job. Use ordinary copper and wrap it or sleeve it.

that is what i am going to do. Copper with denso. does anyone have a good method of using this tape? As i have a set pr of gloves to hold it with and cut it with a hacksaw. I hate it though.

but to be honest, i know i said its expensive but i quoted £500 for the job as i didnt want it. All it is is installing hob and pipework for washing machine and sink

Vinyl gloves and a stanley to cut it or use an apprentice. Wish i could get someone daft enough to pay me £500 for 10ft of pipe and a mix of compo
