I had one at a flat next to one of those cash for clothes places. Some clown had ripped 3ft of copper off obviously thinking it was worth more than a bag of washing they had nicked off some poor cants washing line.
I repiped it in MI.

I've never come across it with a gas pipe but ive had loads of prv pipes ripped off when the original installer has run the pipe down the wall to terminate just above ground level........
