Gas Portfolio

Hi i am new to this forum, basically i m 19 and have done my plumbing and unvented hw and am halfway through my gas portfolio but i am struggling to find a reliable engineer. The bloke i was working with has got other commitments with maintenance on schools, so i am pleading for anyone in or around Leeds who requires another pair of free hands from a qualified plumber (who will work for free!) and who has his own tool kit (just no FGA as yet cant justify the money until i fully qualify) and a full clean licence also have a car so can travel within reason All i am asking is that i can complete my portfolio with you

good luck pal.... Hope you find a plumber who will help.. there are 100's of us all searching for the same thing unfortinetly and not many Gas engineers want to be slowed down let alone put their signature to someones name.. The acs centre have to hold on to your portfolio now for 5 years...if you happen to have the misfortune of an accident they investigate your gas trainer..eg the gas engineer who helped with your portfolio..sucks doesnt it.. A lot of gas plumbers cannot be bothered with all the hassles of being slowed down add to that that you are a potential threat to their already cramped market... But seriously pal all the best and hope you achieve your object ...

cheers! i know its tough out there for everybody, if it comes to the point that i cant find a registered engineer i hear HelpLink will charge you to work for them on the installs but that would be a last resort

help link are a firm down here who will supply and fit you a boiler slightly cheaper than British gas but more than a local sole trader but they will give you finance on them they must have 200+ employes but they charge you 150 per day to work with them to gain your portfolio

Cheeky tykes, on principle charging is a step too far and if you only get installs you won't get experience with older boilers and installations. The ones that can actually kill people. :cuss:

Ive heard of engineers charging a grand to do a portfolio, not sure I like the ethics of that though tbh................ an easy grand would be nice though???????????
