GAS portfolio

hello everyone,

I am looking to start working towards my gas safe in the near future, and was wondering if it is possible to get hold of just the portfolio folder so i can do the write ups and record evidence as and when i work with gas engineers and once i have completed it put in for my gas safe test? this is to save money and time going through a fast track service that would charge to go out with gas safe engineer. also if you can do it like this is there a time limit to when you have to put in for your test once your portfolio is completed. i.e. does the work in the portfolio have to be carried out within the last 2 years?

No portfolio needs to be done once you have commenced your course.

You need to attend center first register and get your mentors signed up, then u can start to collect. How will you know what to collect and if your mentor is a bell? You need to quote standards and identify what and how you have done it. Best time and money saving advise would be get in the course then worry about building portfolio.

Bpec's allow a bit of leeway on previous gas work being allowed for portfolio, it has to be recent and as per today's regs, (even if the work was as per the regs on the day it was done, eg flues in void with no hatches isn't allowed to be included, not sure why but they are allowing some pre course jobs as long as info is transferred onto bpec portfolio format
