the last two gas fires i have serviced i am finding the operating pressure is fine but when i gas rate i am finding them way out,am i missing some thing,
Some fires state in the MI's what number to put the fire on to do pressure and gas rate, being on the wrong setting will alter what readings you get. Injectors could be another possibility.

if inlet/cold(why do they call it that?) pressure is right and gas rate is low, it needs a service/clean out, as the gas supply is there but not getting to the burner, what is the pipe size/route like, could it be that there is in effect a decent "standing pressure" at the appliance but not enough gas getting through the pipe quickly enough to maintain the right HI
yeah, i know what your saying, the pipe size/route is not an issue, correct inlet/cold pressure.!you would think wear and tear on appliance parts would increase the flow through it, unless blockage is an issue, from the out let side of gas valve i have correct pressure but from there that pressure is resulting in a poor gas rate ?
