I

I am bonkers

Can anyone advise me what effects the latest gas regs have on granny flats regarding the requirement for an independent supply? If there have been changes do these apply retrospectively?

which new regs? 6th edition? I believe i recall that THE only retrospective gas reg change was with regard to the 90% ventilation calc.

Thank you. Sorry but don't know which edition. I had picked up in conversation that a change in gas safety regulations had introduced a necessity for separate boilers to require separate metered supplies. Just wondered if any professional itk could enlighten me further. Thanks again.

the main thing is the 2 boilers must not go over the meter flow amount ie u6 6m3 of gas (plus any cookers gas rate)
plus must be pipe sized correctly for lengths

you can have as many appliances on a meter as you want as long as the maximum demand can be met, a meter is only to measure how much gas is used so that someone can send you a bill,

Is the granny flat is a seperate building or attached?
Will it have its own front door?
Access to the main house?
I would at least fit an Aecv in the flat if the gas supply is adequate to supply both.
Otherwise you could need seperate supply.

Thanks all. Seems like we're OK then? Total potential gas demand under 6m³/hr.
