studying the gas regs and doing some homework

here is a question and my answer.

what must an installer do to the installation and appliances when the gas service/meter has just been installed and gas is avalible for the first time?

my answer.

the appliance has been installed in accordance of the regulations.

the operating pressure is as recommended by the manufacturer.

the appliance has been installed with due regard to any manufactures instructions provided to accompany the appliance.

all saftey controls are in proper working order.

reg 33-(1) a to d.

however i have scanned the regs and cant find any reference to the main part of the question which is .....just been installed and gas is avaliable for the first time.

and i wish they would write these regs in everyday spoken english and not hobnob english

Think they may be looking for purging procedure of pipework

thats what i thought aswell puddle but, wouldnt that be covered in

the applinace has been installed in accordance with the regulations

I know where you are coming from Paul,

but the way they want you to think is that the gas is available at meter but hasnt been turned on.

So you'd be working out installation size to see if you conform with IPU/1B or 1A. Then you be tightness testing and purging.

Purge rates i think would be the first thing, and dont forget to mention weather or not youll be purging direct into air or constantly trying to ignite.

i reckon its the purging procedure once gas has been introduced to the appliance or flare it if the pipework is over 28mm im not quite sure of the volume of the 28mm pipe i think it might be 0.01m3
