hi just a general question that me and a colleague have been squabbling about ;p ,is it a legal requirement to fit a Gas Restrictor elbow to outset radiant fires.me myself say you dont need to as long as theres a way of isolating the fire close by. seen one the other day where the gas cock was in the pantry behind the chimney ,no gas restrictor was used ,my mate is adamant that its wrong and not to current regs
 
the regs say an appliance needs a means of iso umless impracticle to do so, and other regs say fittings needs to be appropriate, so as long as you use a valve suitable for gas then any iso valve must be ok, a restrictor elbow/pedestal is a common way of connecting the 15mm copper to the 8mm chrome but it isnt the only way to connect it
