just been doing abit of research on whats needed to become gas safe registered, then found a post saying you have to be qualified to work on unvented systems (G3 qualification or something)

just wondering, does Level 3 NVQ cover everything to get gas safe and G3 qualified? or is there more exams and assessments after completing level 3?

G3 seperate, negotiate with your training provider and get g3 added on for a few pennies?

so G3 is extra....so after finishing level 3 will i be able to apply to go on the gas safe register with out further assessments etc or is that separate as well?

Level 3 might include gas training, but you still need to do a portfolio of evidence doing real gas work, once completed you then sit ACS exams, if you pass them you can then join the Gas Safe Register, if self employed it will cost you £426 to register a new firm with them, for the first year then half of that every year, if employed your employer will pay £63 to add you to their register

I thought NVQ level 3, included the gas qualification and G3 for unvented.

Only if the apprentice can do a portfolio will he get gas training, unvented not included in every course, although I have done it with some classes depending on how they got on with course work, ie smaller good class who finish programme early can get unvented tagged on to finish the term

ahh excellent, yeh im doing the on site portfolio with pics and reports etc
