Gas safe course registration

Does anybody know how long the course is in UK for gas safe.thinking about getting gas registered. I'm based in northern Ireland, the course over here takes 3 month

Try searching in the search bar fella. Most would advise the college/apprenticeship route. Do you have any plumbing background??

Gas Safe Registration is fairly straightforward. To achieve basic registration (boilers and water heaters only) in three months, you would need to be working with a Gas Safe Engineer to build up your portfolio of at least ten supervised jobs. Thereafter, you meed to wait 6 months to add cookers, fires and the three categories of LPG - without having to submit a further portfolio of relevant work.

For the theoretical / practical training it is generally a full time course lasting 5 or 6 weeks.
In conclusion to achieve registration in 3 months would be very good going

Jeez, 10 supervised jobs??!!! I had to produce 75 boiler jobs and 35 for fires, cookers etc. I went to college though on day release working with a small plumbing and heating company 4 days a week. I already had my nvq and was told at the end I could have got away with 35 days but college wanted it to be more comprehensive than that.

In essence, Gas Safe can now be achieved by only undertaking 5 Landlord Certificates in a true domestic environment.

Ffs, I’m not surprised I struggle with gas sometimes. I was on loan to our subbies and picked up hardly anything, they were on price work, and I think we only needed so many installs, ant remember the figure, but wasn’t half of yours Duncan 😩

That is the current pathway for Logic Certification MLP Program DNGA 3 to achieve ACS. The portfolio for boilers is 5 service or landlord certificates and 5 instals.
The instals can be in a simulated environment.

In essence the ACS entry point is:

Evidence that you have basic plumbing knowledge
Classroom theoretical training 3 weeks
Classroom practical training 2 weeks
Write up 10 method statements
Write up and have endorsed 5 service / inspections/ landlord certificates in a real environment. (Portfolio)
Write up and have endorsed 5 installs in a simulated environment. (Portfolio)
Sit the ACS assessment.
Pass and register for Gas Safe.
After 6 months return for 1 week to extend the qualification for cookers and fires ( no further portfolio requirements).

I don’t agree with the above, but it is sadly reality.

I know what you mean, 6 boiler installs was all it took for me then 7 days in the classroom. My first few boiler faults, landlords and services really worried me. I'm alot more confident now but these training centres have alot to answer for.
