Hi all, i have my gas safe inspection coming up in 2 weeks and im not going to lie but im petrified! Being its my first year gas safe i dont know what to expect off them. i tend to stay away from fires and other gas appliances as i contract out on Boiler Installtions. What can i expect from gas safe? all help would be appreciated.

Cheers Chris

There bothered about the safety aspects mainly. Purging tightness testing.... Etc

Deep breath, and relax... Its not an exercise to belittle or strip you of your Gas Safe membership as most fear. They are simply coming out to talk to you, ask a couple of basic safety questions which you would have answered in the ACS anyway but most of all ensure you are working safely.
Contrary to popular belief they are not out to get you, most of the inspectors I know are very amiable guys who were once on the tools themselves and know how it is.
Its good to explain what you are doing and why, e.g. Im doing a let by test to check if the ECV is passing..etc you get the picture. It shows your understanding and not a "monkey see monkey do" type character..

Its all about basics.... tt let by etc. also probably ask about unsafe situations etc. They are not there to catch you out, but to ensure that you are safe in what you are doing. If he/she asks any questions that you are unsure about, as long as they are not basixs, then say I am unsure but I can locate it within my gas books. Do not just guess an answer.

If you only do boilers and not fires/cookers he will only ask about what you do, proberly want to see you use a FGA, anything you are stuck on tell him you ring Gas Safe or Manufacture They dont Hang you anymore ! they value your annual subscriptions to much !!

the GSR inspectors are just guys like you and me. ask you basic gas safety questions and questions about the installation you take them too. when i did mine i took him to a cooker installation where i had to put in extra ventilation and a gas fire i had to id and repair. could only get 2 customers in on that day and he was happy with that. very easy to talk too and was happy to answer any questions i could fire at him so i asked loads.

Thanks guys, tomorrow is the meeting. I have 3 properties i have arranged with boiler installations, diiferent fluing types, vertical and horizontal so hopefully hell be happy with those properties. keep you updated and thanks for the info, much appreciated.

Me again, just had my Gas Safe Inspection and all thumbs up. The guy came out to my address, introduced himself and we had a chat for ten minutes before leaving for the first and only property he wanted to view. we went through Gas rating, unsafe situations, controls at the meter and what we would do incase of a fault etc. basically he wanted to know if i knew what i was talking about, everything was cool and he was happy with my feed back. spent around 2 hours in my property going through things and he said he didnt need to see anymore and he was happy with it all.
