had my gas safe inspection today must say was a bit nervous and when they turnd up yes 2 of them i was nervous
so off we go to look at jobs usual tests tightness/working pressure/ gas rate / flame failure/combustion analiser
flue flow test/ and a few questions found them very helpfull and i had no need to be nervous thats it for another year

(reason for 2 gas safe men was they were both going to a hse meeting so they met up at my inspection )

How often do the rest of you guys have an inspection i have only had one so far.:thinking2:

If all goes well on your inspection then you won't see them for a few years unless there's an issue.

At British Gas, we're checked a minimum of once a year by safety fella and were continually checked on behind our backs continually all year round.

At Iguana/eagaheat/CES we had our own in house regime. It was crap. We were checked by our line manager once every 6 months, who was in turn checked by the regional gas safety manager every 6 month doing the check. Gas Safe, and Corgi before them, didn't do any checks on the employees, they carried out checks on the gas safety procedures of the company.

We had one manager that was discovered falsifying records because he got behind on his inspections. Unfortunately at the time I was doing manager cover and had to spend an entire week going round checking jobs that he had visited and carrying out gas safety inspections on the other engineers. It was only pure chance that he got caught out, a subby failed a routine external H&S inspection and he had just had an inspection from said manager according to the paperwork. When I questioned the subby he had never seen the manager and the signatures I got from him on the inspection forms didn't match the ones on the previous paperwork.

Rumour has it that he wasn't the only one to be carrying on like this but the only one caught at it.

Looking at the standard of work that I had to put right from other engineers I struggle to believe any of them had recently passed a gas safety inspection.
