So I passed my domestic gas assements before Xmas ( CCN1, CPA, CENWATand got my certificate from Bpec today telling me I’m now on the gas safe register.
How do I get the actual gas safe I.d card ?
Tried phoning gas safe and bpec but they are both closed.
It was done through the company I work for so I assume I will just be added to there existing registration number but I thought I would have my I.d card with my photo sent out to me ?
Cheers

Your company have to pay for it and request it.
It's then sent to them to pass to you, as they paid for it, not you.

You might need to prompt the person who looks after the registration at your company.

So even though you are on the register you have to pay to get the card ?

You're registered with Gassafe, the company have to pay to put your name against their number.
If you registered in your own name as well you'd have to pay for a full registration but you'd get the card included.
£63.60 per engineer.

Ok cheers.. so along with my card registered through my company I can have my own personal card ?

You can't do any gas work in your own name without your own registration and card.
If your employer allows you to work in your own name, yes you can register.

Don't forget your employer can easilly check the register to see if you are on in your own name.

But it will cost you as per my screenshot above
£434.40

Ok I see, I can have my own personal gas registration without being a company ?
Like it’s just registersed to my name?
That sounds what I wasn’t sure about.

You'd be a sole trader business as well as an employee.
You'd need to check your terms and conditions as some companies won't allow you to be in business in your own name let alone in the same line as them.

IF as I suspect you are thinking of doing your own work on the side then get your own insurance and declare the earnings cos the taxman ain`t daft.

You have your ACS and you can register with any company. Your own company for example for your own work will need your own insurance

Yes, that’s what I’m trying to find out how to go about. I don’t intend on doing anything illegal
The reason I wasn’t sure is because when I passed I asked the assessor if I can get my own card ans he said yes just apply for it, nothing about being a sole trader.. so I wanted to confirm because that didn’t sound correct, essentially that would be a license to do homers

So do I have my own registration number or am I just added to the company’s number ?

You have a unique card number, with the company registration number on it.
If you registered as a sole trader in your own name you'd have another card with another unique number on it but with your sole trader registration number on it.

Before you get too carried away about working in your own name, as I said above you need to check with your current employer to see if they would allow you to work in your own name, particularly as I assume they've just paid for your ACS.
