Saw a new van this morning GS number was in the 5xxxxx are there really 1/2 million out there..:eek:
 
Knew a bird with an extra digit ;)

i expect a lot of the numbers are used by ex plumbers, they dont issue old numbers out to new registrations
 
I've personally never seen any that are 3xxxxx, I don't think, but certainly no 4xxxxx, so I think they skipped a whole bunch aswell. I think they started at 500000 as Gas Safe took over.
 
Company I work for is 9xx2. My boss' grandad started up and got that number when I'm guessing corgi was voluntary
 
6XXX but i'm an oldie and had it before most of you were born :)

I was 2260 back in the 80s but during the 90s I was industrial pipefitting and didn't need corgi reg. so now 5xxxxx
