Hi everyone,

I have NVQ level 3 in plumbing and heating. Recently I have applied for Gas safe registration card so I could work on gas appliances and certificate. When I received my card, on the back of it it only allow me to do pipe work and cookers. Now having completed the NVQ level 3 I thought I should be able to do all domestic gas work? I phone gas safe and they tell me I need CPA 1 in order to be able to do the rest. I've never heard CPA 1 before, Can some one with experience please give me some advice in this regards. I'm determined to start working for myself, so please help me get there. Thank you.

Fredrico.

CPA1 is combustion analysis; it is quite a new thing but you will need to sit it

It's not that new how long age did you sit your CCN1 as it is now combined into this. There was a cut off date for every one to get it (but of course you may have missed it due to training) surprised your assessment / training center did not advice you of this ?? You will need it to be able to work on most appliances now.

It would depend when the OP done the ccn1, ok we have known about CPA for a while and most providers have included it for a year or so but they don't have to give it away free, will be interesting to see when he did it
